The Chinese kang system is a typical heat transfer and heat storage facility, which makes full use of the waste heat of cooking and fully or partially satisfies the heat load demand of rural buildings .

The kang system is one of the oldest primary floor heating systems used for space heating in the north of China. It was first developed during Spring and Autumn of Zhou dynasty, which dates back years ago .
