How do spherical magnets work?

Two cylindrical magnets are fixed at the upper and lower ends of the container. The distance between SMM and two cylindrical magnets is controlled by the shims between the springs and two cylindrical fixed magnets. After the spherical magnet is in contact with two springs respectively, the springs are compressed to certain extent.

In order to establish two stable positions, the magnetization directions of two fixed magnets are the same, so as to avoid unnecessary rolling of the spherical magnet when it vibrates up and down. Therefore, in dynamic conditions, the SMM can oscillate in single-well vibration or double-well vibration in a periodic or chaotic manner.
